What backup codes are and how to use them if you lose your authenticator
During MFA enrollment, Spexsure generates 8 single-use backup codes. These are your emergency access method if you lose your phone or authenticator app.
Storing backup codes
Store backup codes offline — in a password manager, printed and stored securely, or in an encrypted note that is separate from your authenticator device. Do not store them alongside the device that runs your authenticator app.
Using a backup code
On the MFA verification page, click Use backup code instead. Enter one of your 8 codes. Each code can only be used once and is invalidated immediately after use.
Regenerating backup codes
Go to Settings → Security and click Regenerate backup codes. A new set of 8 codes is generated and all previous codes are invalidated immediately.
If you lose your authenticator app and have no backup codes, you will be locked out. Contact support@spexsure.com to begin account recovery.
